Democracy Bootcamp

Democracy Bootcamp is a regular provincial professional development conference for elementary and secondary teachers designed to improve democratic engagement and instructional capacity. Bootcamps were successfully organized in Quebec in 2015 and 2017.

These conferences also serve as networking opportunities for teachers from across the province to share best practices on teaching democracy in classrooms. The 2015 Democracy Bootcamp helped teachers prepare and coordinate the Student Vote project in their classrooms for the federal election. During the 2017 event, participating teachers had the chance to exchange ideas with experts including Dorothy Alexandre, Jean-Pierre Charbonneau, Maria Mourani, Réjean Parent, John Parisella, and Alexis Wawanoloath.

Another Democracy Bootcamp will be organized in Quebec in early 2018. If you would like to participate, please email the CIVIX-Québec team at to stay up to date.
