CIVIX’s Democracy Bootcamps are professional development conferences that aim to give elementary and high school teachers the necessary tools to talk about democracy in their classrooms. Three Bootcamps were successfully organized in Quebec in 2015, 2017 and 2018.
These conferences are the perfect opportunity for teachers from all over Quebec to exchange on the best ways to talk about democracy and how to initiate their students to their civic duty. The 2015 Camp prepared teachers to better organize the federal Student Vote in their schools. For the 2017 and 2018 meet-ups, participating teachers had the chance to exchange with experts from various backgrounds such as Colette Brin, Jean-Pierre Charbonneau, Maria Mourani, Réjean Parent, John Parisella and many others. The topics were, among other things, media literacy, campaign strategies and the importance of a strong democracy.
Democracy Bootcamps are organized annually in the province. Send an email at firstname.lastname@example.org to stay up to date on the next scheduled events.
